

Chewie (Mr. LaChew) is staying with AaTs!
Chewie is a two year old full bred Golden Retriever that was rescued by AaTs last February. Our intent was to train and place Chewie with a family as an Emotional Support Dog. However, as part of his training we started to take him on therapy visits into the community. It became apparent very quickly that we simply could not pass up his sweet temperament and instinctive ability as a great therapy dog. So, Chewie has found his "forever" home with AaTs and will continue to serv


Common Ground High School Seminar
The Animal Science class from Common Ground High School is attending a two part seminar on animal assisted therapy this Spring.
The first session on March 2 will focus on therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and service dogs. The students will learn about the role each working dog plays to better people's lives. They will also have hands on experience working with AaTs therapy dogs.

Hospital for Special Care Presentation
Beth Patella, MS Recreational Therapy, will be presenting at the Hospital for Special Care, New Britain on March 9. The session, attended by doctors, nurses, and therapists from the hospital, will focus on the benefits of canine animal assisted therapy and sound therapy.
Beth will also be visiting the hospital's Center/School for children with autism and planning with staff how visits with our therapy dogs will benefit this population.
